Barbara Edlmair worked for Heidrick & Struggles and Ray Berndtson in London and Frankfurt before co-founding Purkiss & Company. She spent her early career in academia, investment promotion and international relations.  Barbara gained an MA from Yale University on a Fulbright scholarship and a PhD in English and American Studies from Salzburg University, Austria. Barbara speaks German, Spanish, French and Portuguese and is the author of Rewriting History published by Braumüller in 1999.
